Our Stories
Cherie
Cherie had back surgery, where the wrong disk was removed. In constant pain and a diabetic, selling her one-of-a-kind upside down Red Riding Hood doll and other soft dolls and stuffed animals through the Woman’s Exchange has helped her earn sufficient income from home to help pay the increased costs of her insulin and other medications.
Rita
Rita is an expert in smocking, and her dresses and overalls have been sold in our exchange since 2010. Inspired by her grandmother, who taught her the basics, Rita went on to master the craft. This has enabled her to stay home to care for her disabled foster child.
Betty
When we called 90-year old Betty to order more of her Raggedy Ann dolls, her response was: "Thank goodness for the Exchanges! It is the only way I can pay my electric bill."
